Back in the 1970s, when it was still acceptable to talk, kiss and even smoke on the London Underground, Mike Goldwater spent years documenting chance moments of intimacy and humour across this iconic network of tunnels that live beneath the capital.

Mike Goldwater picked up a camera as a boy and has rarely been without one since. His London Underground pictures were his first project. A professional photographer all his life, he was a founder member of Network Photographers and carried out assignments worldwide. He now travels for free on the Underground.
