1x Many Voices One Nation
Softcover, 195x245
148 Pages
Condition: New
Many Voices, One Nation started with a 2019 collaboration between Ffotogallery and the Senedd which marked 20 years of devolution in Wales. Six of the artist photographers included here were commissioned by the Senedd from an open call to make new work for a touring exhibition which sought to capture the richness and diversity of Wales’ geography, culture and society, and encourage public participation and audience engagement. It was important that the voices and stories represented in the first exhibition came from across Wales, reflecting both urban and rural experience, intergenerational perspectives and ultimately an optimistic view of the nation’s prospects.
1x Dreamtigers
Softcover, 195x245mm
124 Pages
Condition: New
During a period of intensive research through the Dreamtigers India-Wales programme, Ffotogallery established a dialogue between image-making discourses in Wales and India today, working with closely with artists, curators and educators in Delhi and Cardiff. The aim was to examine evidence of a cultural shift that has been described by our Indian partners as ‘the move from being a fatalistic society to becoming an aspirational one’ as technology, globalisation and economic development brought rapid societal change to India. In response, Ffotogallery questions whether can the same be said of Wales in 2017, or have we moved away from individual and collective aspiration for a better world towards a more fatalistic climate in the face of unstable government, societal divisions and uncertainties around our post-Brexit future?
1x Chronicle
Softcover, 195x245mm
124 Pages
Condition: New
Chronicle draws on archival and contemporary material to tell the story of how Ffotogallery developed over those forty years, against the backdrop of changes in the nature and role of photography in society and the rise of digital culture. From the beginning, Ffotogallery has given early exposure to photographers and artists such as Martin Parr, Paul Graham, Helen Sear and Bedwyr Williams who have since gone on to enjoy international success. It documents Ffotogallery’s longstanding focus on the South Wales Valleys through a series of commissions and exhibitions documenting the Valleys in various aspects during a period of rapid transition. Chronicle also celebrates Ffotogallery’s international engagement, through publications and touring exhibitions, the European Prospects initiative, Wales in Venice 2015, the Dreamtigers India-Wales project, and three editions of the biennial Diffusion: Cardiff International Festival of Photography.
